I know it sounds weird but I’m a little depressed that I’m trading in my old PS3 for a new one. I got the “yellow light of death” a few days ago and decided to upgrade to the 160 GB Slim model (I’ll of course replace the HDD with my 500 GB one that’s currently in my broken PS3).
I can’t even imagine how many hours I logged into this thing, pulling plenty of all-nighters with tons of games: breaking in Fall of Man with tastypaintchips and thewondersmith while eating chicken enchiladas, playing the both stupid and extremely fun Naruto demo for six straight hours with the latter, questing through an absurd amount of dungeons in Skyrim, slaving through countless hours of absurd difficulty in trying to get the Late Boomer Trophy in SSHD, finally getting my hands on playing through the greatly anticipated MGS4. The list goes on.
I started so many franchises on this console: Resistance, Uncharted, Assassin’s Creed, Bioshock, Batman, Portal, Battlefield, Call of Duty, Infamous, LBP, The Elder Scrolls, Killzone, Mass Effect, etc. It solidified my desire and passion to work in the game industry; playing so many memorable experiences that were created by so many talented developers kept the craving of attaining my “dream job” alive.
But, of course, it’s just a thing, right? An object. Still, though, I’ll never forget playing shotguns-only on Shipment in Modern Warfare with the above two idiots.
